Where we’re been: the beginning
It seemed such a shame that the barn stood empty (except for the junk left by the previous owners) and that Shiloh filled his days and nights
I felt the need and urge to return to my roots and my years spent at my grandfather’s farm. No offense but I really couldn’t see my days filled with hogs or sheep! And I’m fairly certain Shiloh would not see his life being fulfilled guarding pigs! With Cinda’s encouragement, I looked and researched the first visit to a Suri farm and I was completely hooked! On way home, I couldn’t wait and called Cinda as I pulled out of the driveway. NOT only had I found the perfect animal but the perfect mentors at JC Alpacas. Jim and Cathie Hulbert never tried to “sell” me but just allowed their animals to do their selling! Instead we sat around their dining room table and laid foundation of a wonderful friendship.
We bought several animals from them and a couple from a farm they recommended and took us to visit – Ravada Hills. Ron and Sandy Hendricks made us feel at home and also became fast friends. Sandy visits us often providing vet tech assistance as part of her mobile health service.
So we brought our first 5 alpacas home; one herdsire (Splash) and 4 pregnant females (Penny, Poppie, Freckle and Daphnee). Windy Meadow was alive with the sound of humming!
